Burgundy Farm Country Day School
Burgundy Farm Country Day School was started in 1946 as a place where parents, teachers, and students from diverse backgrounds could unite to form a learning community. It was the first integrated school in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and continues to draw students representing the different cultures and economic groups from our wider community.
In a unique setting of 25 wooded acres, complete with pond, barnyard animals, new classroom buildings, gymnasium, and pool, students enjoy the direction and guidance of their academic growth in a way that, in the progressive tradition, is challenging, experiential and respectful of their individual needs and interests.
In addition to the academic program, art, music, drama, French, Spanish, computer studies, and physical education round out the day school program. The school also owns a 500-acre wilderness camp in West Virginia where each class from Grades 1 - 8 spends several days a year involved in nature studies.
