Mercersburg Students Compete in RoboCup 2011

Four students and two faculty members from Mercersburg Academy recently traveled to Instanbul, Turkey, to compete in RoboCup 2011, an international robotics competition. Three of the students competed as a team in the thermal search and rescue competition, which challenges the robots to locate the heat signatures of “live” bodies trapped in a maze and signal that they have been found. Another student competed in the physical search and rescue event, in which the robots find a “victim” and transport it out of the maze. This is the third year that Mercersburg students have qualified for the RoboCup competition, and a team from the school placed third overall in the soccer division at least year’s event.
