Career Center

Independent Education's Career Center is designed to serve as a resource both for member schools and for job applicants pursuing a career in independent education. The Career Center operates in two ways:

  • Job Listings – Independent Education member schools post jobs as they become available.  Job applicants may browse this list, which can be sorted by School, Category, or Job Title.  By clicking on the Job Title, applicants get a more detailed description of the job and how to apply.  Application materials should be sent directly to the school, not to Independent Education.
  • Post a Resume – Individual job applicants looking to work as teachers, administrators, or staff in independent/private schools in the Washington region may post their resumes and cover letters here.  Independent Education member schools can then login to our website to view these resumes.  This feature is not for job applicants interested in applying for a specific job opening or for a position in a specific school; they should see our Job Listings.

Independent Education is an association of independent private schools educating 33,000 students from nursery school through high school in the greater Washington, D.C., region.

Our Relationship with Teach For America

Independent Education has established a relationship with Teach For America (TFA) to aid in our schools' recruitment efforts. There are two components to this relationship:

  1. Independent Education contacts applicants who were not selected for TFA to inform them about teaching positions in its member schools.
  2. Independent Education advertises its Career Center on TFA's job posting board for alumni/ae in order to attract applicants and job posters.
